you will be fine, same principles apply as in standard length scale. strings will bend easier and frets will be more closely spaced. fender scale length is 3/4 of an inch greater than gibson. all you have here is a more extreme, but nothing fundamental is changed. you can learn everything on this site with it just fine, and if you get a full sized guitar later, not miss a step.
edit: most guitars have 22 frets. some have 21, or even 24. yours may have less than 22. if so, and you see something that exceeds the number of frets on your guitar, just play it in a key a full tone less than transcribed. for example, if the lesson is in A and it requires more frets than you have, then see playing it in G will work. But you may have 22 frets, have not seen your guitar.
