I tried finding new tones to download from Line 6...but didn't see Toneport GX as an option. There was guitarport...are these tones compatible?

Yes, you can use tones from guitarport, toneports etc no problem..Though some tones may require add-on models which don't come as default option.

One other thing to add is POD tone work also. Like Bogdan said though some where created with the add on packs. When you try and load them in Gearbox it will let you know. Just make your best guess for what you want to substitute it with and you'll be good to go. You will probably have to tweak most tones to fit your taste but it's a good starting point.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
