Purpose of this board is to teach you techniques that (I believe) are important to know if you want to be versatile guitar player. Those techniques include alternate, economy, sweep and travis picking, legato, bending, vibrato, hammer on and pull of, tapping, fingerstyle, muting, harmonics etc. Each technique will have a topic for itself and I will post exercises in guitar pro or pdf format. Each exercise will be in form of video (Youtube) or audio file of me demonstrating it (with text explanation).
I hope you will enjoy this board very much and never hesitate to ask questions and share your personal ideas on each technique.

Pedja

Sounds like a very interesting concept Pedja, using some methods from Berklee would definitely be something that would be nice to see here.

It's kinda finger picking chords. A way of playing rythm guitar.

If I'm not mistaken Vai uses it in this video around 1:36

That's not hybrid picking. It's thumb and fingers. And has something to do with a bass line and syncopated rythm with the other fingers. I'm not really sure though.

Hibrid picking is technique that uses pick and fingers. It also known as Travis picking smile.gif It is mostly used in chord melody type pieces where pick plays constant bass line while fingers play the melody.

I thought hybrid picking is often used by players who mainly play with the pick, but they use the middle or ring finger to avoid to skip strings ... of course it has a different sound as well.

Not sure if Steve Vai used hybrid picking at 1:36. The base line has too much punch in my opinion, but you never know with this vai guy .. i guess he could play it perfectly with a pair chopsticks laugh.gif
