That pretty much says it all smile.gif As a semi fan of some power metal groups, I wish it wasn't so easy to make this much fun of, since I laughed my head off.

Got me thinking about Black Metal actually, what eventually becomes "tradtion" or "Orthodoxy" in something that started as "un orthodox", (such as Black Metal, at first) ends up making the entire form of the thing (music) in question predictable and formulaic. But some folks don't find that a bad thing as many fans of Black Metal for example, only like "orthodox' black metal. Which sounds funny in a sentence, as the original spoken intent of the founders of the genre was to obliterate the concept of orthodoxy/tradition in heavy music by making it unpolished, poorly executed, abrasive, and offensive to most folks. Then it becomes accepted, and the progenitors go on to make "techno" albums, just to get away from what has become a new form of orthodoxy.

That sounds like a Christian Power Metal band now that I think of it smile.gif Live!! In London! ORTHODOXY!heheheheheh.

Glad you like it - I thought you would. He comes across to me as one of those people that guitar came a bit more naturally too.

Not saying that a truly great guitarist can't be a slow, full of emotion player - but when it comes to speed technique, and sync and just overall ability interpret the scales at the speed of light, some people brains are just wired to make those calculations and apply them better and more innately than others.

I've been playing off and on for 30 years. If I had to guess how much I have played religiously I would say a good solid 10 to 12 with frustration break in between - and I just can't make those mental calculations. However I can write solos and just memorize them - or pick out others (depending on speed).

I envy people like (and you Todd). I wish I could stay as obsessed on guitar for long periods of time - but I jump from one obsession to the next and get tunnel vision on whatever my next task at hand is.

I've written 3 pretty cool songs lately, along with the help of my old band mate - but he has yet to put his guitar solo into them - like he has lost interest and all he wants to play are Foo-Fighters covers. I'm very proud of the product and they didn't take long at all - just need his solo parts and some vocals.

Anyone wish to ad a solo and vocals to them - may light a fire under my friend.

Did someone say SOLOs!!! smile.gif Why not put the tunes up on a thread and have folks submit solos and show them all to your pal wink.gif I'd be happy to submit something.

Todd

I might Todd - the songs were written for vocals so musically they're sort of repetitive as far as verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, solo, chorus. And the solo parts take 2 measures where I've already written my solo for the measures.

I think the grooves are strong - but without vocals the songs seem empty.
