This guy is insane! He teaches down the road from my house. Give it a shot, you never know if he might do it. Matthew Mills http://www.mattmillsmusic.com/home.html Just got around to cathing the video linked from that site on Youtube. Is it me or does it look like that's a scalloped neck? -------------------- Guitars: ESP Semi-Hollow Eclipse, 1984 Ibanez Roadstar RS440, Peavey T-60, Daisy Rock Rock Candy Custom

You guys live in great places! You can have lessons from great players like Rusty, Matthew - i wish i could have lessons from them!
I never tried scalloped neck but after seeing Rusty i think it's totally UNIMPORTANT if you have it scalloped or not! sorry, but what exactly is a scalloped neck? I'm pasting a link to a page that has some closeup pics of a scalloped neck.(another interesing site, BTW, for DIY guitar projects). On an Ibanez JEM guitar, the higher frets are scalloped. On some guitars, aparently, they do the whole neck that way. http://www.guitarattack.com/saga/saga%20neck/saganeck.htm -------------------- Guitars: ESP Semi-Hollow Eclipse, 1984 Ibanez Roadstar RS440, Peavey T-60, Daisy Rock Rock Candy Custom

Pavel, Doesn't the Jem have the last 4-5 frets scalloped? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

For those who've tried both, how different would you say that a scalloped neck is from having jumbo frets? Regarding playing and how hard you have to press down.

Yes - last 4 frets! Do you find that it makes a difference? I have a PRS with 24 frets but they are all "normal"... |
