I have this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102061 It's served me well, able to run all the latest games with good graphics. I can run Oblivion, for example, on max (with 2gb of ram) Or you can get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102071 With an extra 256mb of memory, which is about what I payed for the other one. They're cheaper now that the dx10 cards are coming out. -------------------- Gear: Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, Gibson '67 RI Flying V, Mesa Boogie F-30 112 combo, crazy pedals.

Hello everybody out there in Shred heaven, would any of you happen to know some good computer graphics cards for under $200? Im looking to get hopefully ATI or GeForce, minium 256MB Maxium 512MB, and of course, compatible with windows, Since the "Orange Box" is coming out (Ships to my house on the 10th!!) im wanting a little extra juice for my computer, any recommendations? Go with an EVGA card, I promise you once you buy an EVGA graphics card you wil never ever buy another kind of card. When I built my new computer a year ago I decided to go with an EVGA becuase some people on Toms Hardware told me they were good. I put one in the computer and it was a great card, after awhile I could no longer stay online playing the beta of lord of the the rings online. I found out it was the graphics card, EVGA customer service was the best I had ever seen, they not only replaced my card no questions asked, they gave me an upgraded card for my trouble. I'm not saying that they do this for everyone who has a bad card but from my experience dealing with hardware companies EVGA was a breath of fresh air. If you don't go EVGA you're nuts! Go to newegg.com and find the one you need, they have the best prices on the internet. Try this one if your computer is PCI Express capable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130286 Not sure how to enter thsat as a link? Maybe because I entered the link during an edit? This post has been edited by RobM: Sep 23 2007, 12:39 PM -------------------- You wish.

I've got a GeForce 6600, it won't run anything like R6: Vegas well but it can take HL2 on High easily. It's also fairly cheap, especially at TigerDirect.com

Hi Uncreator,
all the above are great if you have a PCI express. My general pc mobo doesn't - it only has pci. Best (in the sense of it supports highish quality 3D - good enough for games like Oblivion) pci card I've found is an ATI Radeon X1650. If you have a newish mobo though you've probably got a pci-e slot but might be worth checking before you lay out cash. The more powerful X1950XT might just have come down enough to be in The Uncreators budget too. I think this range of cards is available for both PCI-E and AGP motherboards, but you'll probably pay more for AGP these days. -------------------- QUOTE If you think you can, you can. The 'pro' suffix denotes that its a less powerful version of the x1950 line, it's more in line with a high powered x1900, but still a very nice card. It came with rainbow six vegas, and it runs it really well. Fun game The x1950xt is still about $270, and the x1950xtx is around $370. Newegg is advertising a PCI-E 512Mb X1950XT for $200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814241063 Don't know how it compares quality-wise with some of the bigger brand cards. A similar AGP card seems to be about $260. I agree that the X1950PRO is still a good card for the money. -------------------- QUOTE If you think you can, you can. Same here Matt,
tbh I'd prefer a silent video card that runs cool to a mega pixel number cruncher that was noisy and needed extra cooling. (At the end of the day I spend more time playing solitaire then Oblivion anyway ) Cheers, Tony -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. I never understood the jump to PCI-E, theres no real performance gain between that and AGP despite the extra available potential bandwidth. Always seems like a way to push more motherboards and new cards PCI Express offers a huge jump in performance especially in Memory Clock speeds. Having a PCI-E card boosted my friend's in-game performances unbelievably. I was using 1900Pro AGP graphic card for years and i was never able to set high settings in any game. Now when i am on totally new system, with X1950XT on PCI-E it PWNZ every game. No limits for me now. Keep in mind that i always had processor over 2Ghz and 1 Gig of RAM. So, PCI-E DOES make a difference! -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Yeah! But i also have a friend who just bought a card which is AGP (no money for new system) and it's like a good graphic card but still sucks! The data bandwidth is just too big to compare them.
