About two months ago, my friends and I decided to devote a night to psychedelics. In the midst of a giggling fit, my friend brought out his guitar.

Seeing the instrument in his hands, seeing him play the riffs slowly and the chords wrong. It felt like seeing my soulmate with another man. The love of my life was in his arms, and more than anything in the world I wanted to whisk her away and love her till my fingers bled. But I didn't deserve her. I abandoned my devotion to her a long time ago, and I thought the passion was gone. In that moment, I realized how wrong I was.

Eventually he gave me the instrument, and my hands beckoned the guitar to life. My fragile wandering mind managed to assemble the gestures to stairway to heaven, and I fell in love with music all over again. Even now, sober and stable as I write this, I gaze upon my instrument with eyes of nothing but adoration and respect.

Thats why I'm turning to this community. Since that fateful moment two months ago, not a day goes by where I dont play my instrument for hours on end. And yet, I've been playing for five years now. To say that I've been playing guitar for five years is to say that Paris Hilton has an acting career: barely and without direction.

I'm ready now, to devote the time and effort it takes to become a great guitarist. I'm turning to this community for direction, motivation, and help in making me the musician I always should have been.
