Hey guys! I was watching the Tv show "That Metal Show" and they had a member of Warrant, other from Pussycat dolls and another one from Strypper. One of the questions was done to the guys from Pussycat Dolls was Why didn't you get as big as Guns and Roses, you where at the same place, at the same time, you had radio hits, etc... and the guy said "I had no idea".

Why do you think this GN'R become bigger, and why some do you think some bands become more popular than other ones that play the same style in the same city and sometimes that even sound better... (I don't believe it's the case here)

Right time and place.

Hair metal was becoming a joke, it was tired and played out, it was pandering to the mainstream.

GnR's image was more edgy, gritty, less hairspray, no spandex, a punkier bluesy edge, they shook up the rock scene.

They weren't as big a change as grunge so it wasn't so different, there was still something familiar rock fans could hold on to, but different enough to standout from the reset and be a breath of fresh air.

That's my view on them.

Another band that stood out for me but never quite got really big (probably due to the fact that they were a Faces rip off, were The Quireboys)

Why do bands become big ?

They eat too much !

Ok, sorry.. I had to, it was begging for it wink.gif

To be honest, most of the time it comes down to the material just isn't quite good enough, simple as that.

They remember me to another cool band called Cinderella.

I think i got the answer. If you listen to GnR lyrics, teenages identify in the lyrics of those songs. Add that awesome chemistry and the insane instrumentals and there u have it. GnR drive me crazy any time in the day.
