Let's do another Neoclassical influenced lick. This time, we are going to leverage out ECONOMIC PICKING as well as our PULL OFFS that we have been working on in previous Quick Licks. Don't worry if this is your first one, you can start these at any time, and pick any one you like. They are all self contained. Some will help build on others, but it's perfectly fine to pick and choose whichever ones you want to try smile.gif
Hopefully, this is familiar by now, but in case you have not tried it, do not be thrown off by the speed at which I'm playing in the demo. It's just a demo, to show you how it will sound once you practice it for a bit. There is NO SPEED REQUIREMENT EVER for quick licks. So as long as you play it in a precise manner, you can play it at any speed you like.

*Have a look at the video

*NOTE: Keep it smooth and under control. If you find you are losing control, slow down just a pinch.

BACKGROUND / COMMENTS: This is a very fun lick and comes in handy for working up some crazy speed as well. Give it a whirl!!

Nicely Done!!! This is exactly what I'm looking for. You are using the ECON picking and the pull off for the final note instead of doing a pick strick. That's the trick to making this lick something that can be played at crazy speed. You are getting four notes out of two pick strikes! Also well done on improving your own thing. Also something I love to see!! Move this bit around the neck and keep working up your speed on this as it's great lick to shred. It sorta sounds like an arp/sweep, as it's played liked one, but it's small enough to be playable right off the bat.
It also works on any other string at any other fret. So march it around and find your sweet spot!! You got this down!!!! You just....
LEVELED UP!!!

Impressive!! Yet again not even breaking a sweat, no consternation visible on your face, easy breezy all the way through. This is a technical lick with a bit of a sweep vibe and uses the pinky in rapid succession. The use of the pinky over and over makes it really really tough for some folks especially if they hvae not put time in to train the weakest link on the hand! You sir have clearly put the time in. I can see the practice/woodshedding in your playing. Keep it up!! You just....
LEVELED UP!!!!!! *P.S. This is one of the highest rank badges for quick licks that I've ever given out so CONGRATS!!!!!

NICE!!! This one requires that you do a double down stroke (econ) which throws some folks off in a big way and makes it hard for them to do sweeps at all. Your showing a great example of econ here. Also, this one requires a double tap on the pinky. So you gotta stick the landing twice.. No problem for you at all. Also, you play it very smoothly and with tight synch and pace. This is really a wonderful job on this one. Super Perfect!!

You just..
LEVELED UP!!!!

Very close! You've got the idea but I think you went over it a bit too quickly. There are two double taps with the pinky and then a single tap. This is the first shape in a much longer lick. That same double, double, single repeats in the bigger lick as well. Once more!

Look at him go! That's the stuff. This has a serious jump for the pinky and you gotta stick the landing or it just doesn't work. This type of thing helps prepare the hand for arpeggios like the one you just did in bootcamp!!! You are ready for the next QUICK LICK soldier! You just..

LEVELED UP!!
