Hi Adibarve!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not really just kidding... )

Musical tastes and influences -
heavy metal (Disturbed, Godsmack), Thrash (Metallica, Megadeth, bit of Testament), Progressive (Dream Theater) , Rock (Deep Purple, Led Zep. Doors, etc etc)
Blues (BB King, Clapton, SRV, Cream)
Guitarists - Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Petrucci, Al Dimeola, Paco Da Lucia)
Indian -Indian Classical (on the guitar), Shakti, Agnee (http://youtu.be/TmREUmbsWxU)

I love composing, more than playing covers. Have some intuitive understanding of blues, not much of theory anywhere.
Weaknesses -
Playing on the metronome (have already started practicing)
Low confidence in soloing
No speed, no sweep picking etc.
Low familiarity with scales and modes (already looking into it).

I guess the best place to start would be playing modes in various positions. Your take?
Don't have videos yet, but I 'll work on that. For now, have attached an mp3, original rhythm and soloing (one take).
Hope this helps. Please ask any other specific questions . Glad to be a part of your esteemed army! ;-)

Thanks
Adi

Hi mate! Thanks for your audio file and information! I like it! For any reason I can hear connections with Jimi Hendrix and Frusciante in your solo. It sounds very tasty! smile.gif You should start a diary routine that includes technique, learning theory/scales for soloing, leaning licks/solos, composing. If you dedicate enough time to each of these things every day you will notice a big improvement in you and at the same time you will keep going! smile.gif What things are you learning about modes and theory? What lessons from GMC are you learning or have learnt? Do you know how Collaborations work? Do you have any Daw and VSTi for writing drums and bass?

Thanks for the encouragement Gab. Ben Higgins Bushido exercises look great as well. As well as https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/ for legato exercises. I looked at your intensive training course, of which the warm ups and alternate picking workouts sound good. I guess I have a steep learning curve ahead. And lastly and definitely, I am going to take up your John Frusciante lessons biggrin.gif , Blues Licks lesson. I loved your Modern Metal Lesson. Will take that up soon.
Also thought should start with the "Applying modes" series by Sinisa Cekic and another modes lesson by David Walliman (https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/learing-the-modes/)
For riffing, I found this by Pavel (I guess he is no longer with GMC) - https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...-for-beginners/
What are your impressions? Do let me know! Thanks.

Also, no experiences with DAW/VSTi etc... Advice?

Great stuff! You are very well oriented! That's a lot of cool material but very varied, so I think that you could create a routine based on it. It would be great if you can start with those lessons and post here your weekly progress (audio or video). What do you think?

Regarding the multitrack software, there are many ones. I use Cubase and Nuendo, there are many GMCers here using Reaper since there is a free version. You could start with it, since it's a very good tool for composing and recoding your ideas.
