Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Hector!

This lesson is a great choice too! Your sweep picking technique is very good here man. I can say that the faster sections are mastered.

The slower parts (first half) have some timing issues. Sometimes it can be tricky to play sweeps (and also legato) at intermediate tempos. It requires special practice at that tempo. Does it make sense?

Regarding your fret wrap. Be careful because if you get used to play everything using it then you'll have noise issues when quitting it. I would use if for advanced tapping stuff but not for everything.

Ok mate, that's all by now, keep on the good job.

Very cool mate!

The sweeping/economy motion is not very helpful for keeping time (as opposed to strict alternate picking), so you might also want to tap with your foot and maybe think actively of syncing the foot taps with some notes that happen on the downbeat (I think the pinky pull-offs?).

Having such reference points like will help you convey a tighter overall impression - it felt like you were drifting around the beat while Ben's playing was well anchored with the groove.

Overall your chops are convincing and clean though, so this is mainly a timing issue. Keep it up you get an 8 from me!

First off super congrats on learning this entire piece. Second, super congrats on the drastic jump up in quality in your vids! This vid looks great and you've more than one angle going on it so you have something else to cut to which makes the video much more insteresting than just a static shot. Also, it looks like maybe it's a green screen shot? If so, it's very very clean and I don't see any green screen spill at all. Bravo on the entire production.

As for the playing it's pretty darn impressive too. Hand synch is very good and pick strikes are strong and clean. There are few timing issues as Gabe mentioned, but overall your playing is very good and very entertaining. Your clearly involved in the track and that makes it a fun watch. As for fret wraps, try to never use them before the nut if possible as it lets your hand off the hook for palm muting duties. After the nut is just fine for damping out resonance. You got this sorted! Solid 8.

Todd

Hey there!

I think you got the main point of this lesson. You kept proper picking direction while it often happens to see students making not the actual sweeps.

Kris is spot on with his punchline - sweeps are way harder to keep in time, than regular picking. To make things even worse, the more you tense, the harder it is to keep it smooth and equaly layed over timeline. Most difficult to apply and most aprioriate advice is to make things more relaxed. Try to loosen some tesion.

There are spot where you have problems with hand sync or where you are not precise enough - maybe still hesitating on some positoin shifts but....I belive this is more a matter of time.

Your hand mechanics looks descent. There is nothing critial to fix. I guess it'smore time needed to let things move into muscle memory and fulyl use your head to control relax and timing.
