You pick up your guitar but you cant play anything right? mad.gif

At the beginning of the week I felt my playing had come on leaps and bounds, and like nothing could stop me!! Everything I played sounded pretty good as I was feeling pleased with my acheivments.

But the past 3 days, Ive barley been able to to play anything correctly!! I guessed work has been pretty exausting, and I feel pretty exausted mentally because of it.

My question is, do you any of you guys ever get days or weeks where you just sound "blah" laugh.gif smile.gif

Is it best to sometimes just put it aside and have a rest?

Discuss! cool.gif

Yes, we all have those days. When that happens you really need to put down the guitar for a day or two and relax. During that time you will get motivated and you will be back to playing correctly.

No not really, my playing is always divine laugh.gif

I know what you mean but that usualy comes for me when I sit down to play wven though I really dont feel like it. Then playing lacks the spark.

And some times it takes quite a bit of playing before it takes off, like first 30 minutes blows then I get warm and play as the usual me. Not meaning I can play anything right, just the usual me laugh.gif

I know what you mean about the 30 minute thing, ive been there , many times!!

Im often pretty hard on myself if i dont do a full practice session daily, I think im going to rest up till i feel rejuvinated.

Im pretty sure its against the law to make your workers carry heavy loads up and down a long flight of stairs for an hour anway ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Sometimes need to have a rest m8, you`ll find a couple of nights off and you`ll pick up the guitar and be suprised that you nail the licks straight away that you couldnt get anywhere near a couple of nights previous. wink.gif

Yes, it defanatly sucks. It usually only happens when playing electric. But I can usually go play acoustic guitar or harmonica so its not all bad.

I get that feeling like every week. No big deal to me honestly. I never took practice seriously. I just screw around and come up with riffs on top of my head and try and play them.

As you can see above rolleyes.gif it happens to all of us all the time.I can get to a point where i just get pickey with sound and just stop playing for a few hours ,also when im playing a guitar that keeps going out of tune everytime you solo hard on it that makes me just want to through the thing out the window smile.gif So between myself and gear there's plenty of times i just loose that drive to enjoy my playing

Sometimes it helps to take a whole day off (or even 2) and when you pick it back up, you will feel like you progressed amazingly smile.gif

I need about 20 minutes to warm up, but I tend not to forget stuff.

I'd like to get better compositionally though, I write really boring riffs - riff rutts a lot and I run out of inspiration fast laugh.gif
