Well, there`re so many great covers but I love "Wind Beneath My Wings" (Bette Midler) by Sonata Arctica,
if you like power metal you must hear this cover!!

Death - Painkiller

Posted by: Gen Mar 6 2008, 01:23 PM

Hard to choose but, atm i would say Bjorn Berges version of N.I.B (by black sabbath)

Posted by: JVM Mar 6 2008, 01:29 PM

I really like what Opeth did with Soldier of Fortune. There's a lot of great covers out there though.

Posted by: Robin Mar 6 2008, 01:41 PM

Everything Bjørn Berge covers. Bjørn Berge makes the original songs sound like bird crap. Thats not even any exaggeration at all. But its also just my opinion rolleyes.gif

Great cover also but Painkiller destroys everything lol. From the scream at the start through the solo to the end is incredible.

The best cover ever made and one of the best songs. Closely followed by N.I.B by Björn Berge and Solider of Fortune by Opeth, but they are already mentioned here.

I can do nothing but agree with you here Pablo. One of the best and most famous songs covered. Written and covered by two of the greatest guitarists ever! It honestly doesn't get any better than that!

Posted by: SLASH91 Mar 6 2008, 09:56 PM

Either Whiskey in the Jar and Am I Evil covered by Metallica or Aint it fun by GNR.

Posted by: Sonny Mar 8 2008, 02:47 AM

Deep Pueple's Perfect Strangers, covered by Dream Theather, just AWESOME.

Any of the covers Dream Theater has done never fail to impress!

They have covered Metallica's Master Of Puppets album, Iron Maiden's Number Of The Beast album, and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album.

Hmm,
I guess SRV's Voodoo Chile is absolutely amazing.

But if I had to pick just 1, I would have to go with G-n-R's Knockin on Heaven's Door.

Gnr butchered that beautiful song, IMO

All the Dream Theater covers that they do live as well as their "Big Medley" on Change of Seasons.

However my favorite cover of all time, even though I am not a huge fan of the band anymore has got to be "Am I Evil?" by Metallica, original by Diamond Head.

Also Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix was great.

Also, anyone seen these, they make me laugh so hard everytime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24UE6m63Q5E- Best one, not gonna lie, I think the solo and the ending in this one are better than the original.

Metallica's mercyful fate is hands down the best... One of the best metal bands of all time covers another legend metal band with a mix of their songs... How can it get any better than that..

Yeah, they really screwed with the vocals too much. It should have just been Axl. The solos are really nice though.
