I think its an excellent piece of software mate, it makes tweaking the patches on the POD a piece of cake, I use it to set all the patches on my POD, I`ve never actually touched any buttons on the POD to adjust the patches at all, one of the main reasons I love it so much smile.gif

PS.sorry you must hate this but I thought of a new Metal nick for you out of your forum nick. mintymuncha, its better than manhunta tho ya gotta admit that

Hi Dude,

As smells is totally worth it!

This is the review that Ivan Milenkovic wrote about the Toneport UX I quoted the gearbox part.

QUOTE (Milenkovic Ivan @ Dec 3 2007, 10:27 AM) *
ANd now - The Gearbox.

THe gearbox software is basicaly like any other guitar effects seftware. It has lots of effects and amp and stuff built in and it emulates those sounds. BUT, this program is MADE specially for TOneport. Toneport devices are controlled via it so you can adjust patches on differetn sends. You can even make sepparate sends for mic&guitar and record both sepparately into DAW software while directly monitoring all the effects applied on both inputs. Is that not cool or what? FOr that price yes it is thank you vey much smile.gif Now the toneport can act as a standalone hardware and you CAN use other guitar related software like GuitarRIg, Amplitube etc. and it can do almost real time effects with those, but GearBox sends his effeccs directly into monitors wiht minimum amount of latency. I can`t say if GearBox has BETTER affects than other products out there, but it has very nice clean and deacent drive settings. Also you get it for FREE when you buy TonePort, including TOne Library on the net, free 30day subscription for some additional multimedia material and a lot of upgrade possibilities. ALso you can upgrade it automaticaly over the net.

yea, but does it ADD anything to the POD X3/XT?
i use the hardware to change my patches so i really cant see much bonus as i have recording capabilities too.
dont get me wrong, i can see how it would be good for people who prefer the GUI to the hardware on the POD or for those who want recording effects.
i guess what im asking is, has it got anything the POD hasnt other than the GUI?

possibly you`ve answered your own question then?
I wouldnt have thought your going to gain any advantages over the X3 with it and I dont think its got anything extra over the XT, and as you`d rather use the hardware etc so I`d agree with you, why use it laugh.gif (in your case ofc)

It's not worth it if you need it for processing your guitar live, but if you wanna use it as a standalone plug, you can buy it. It has some nice features, and you can update it with more amp and effects packages. I'm not sure what you get with X3/XT in terms of presets, but if you get everything that needs to be updated when you buy a gearbox, then I think its probably not worth it, since you already have every preset available.
