GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ One Last Show!

Posted by: Spiderusalem Dec 24 2007, 02:18 PM

Ok this thread is pretty simple. out of the 3 groups of performers, pick one you would choose to come back to life and play one last show (they would come back as themselves during their prime, and not as talentless zombies.)

The female edition of this same question coming soon, so dont fret!

I voted for Jimi as I think it would be very interesting to see what he'd be able to do with todays technology, Johnny Cash because, well, it's Johnny Cash smile.gif and I was going to vote for Freddy but went with my heart with Sinatra just because I love 'Ol Blue Eyes.

The best (famous) guitarists are like super massive stars in the universe. Super MASSIVE stars have a blue hue to them because of their extreme heat. Whereas our relatively tiny sun is yellow/orange (less heat). These gigantic orbs of gas burn sooo much more hydrogen they're much brighter, produce exponentially more energy and are much more prominent. You can only burn massive amounts of fuel, be so bright, and expel so much energy for only so long until you die out…

These guitarists like SRV, Jimi, Dime - these guys are bigger than life, bigger and brighter than anything you can really imagine and for that reason it seems they burn out.

I don’t know if this analogy makes sense to anyone else, but it seems kinda clear to me. =)

F*ck it, live like a rock Star.

They've all had their time. I wouldnt have any of them back, just like I wouldnt go to a band's reunion gig - pointless. huh.gif

Do hope I've not offended anyone but I dont think any of these people would be huge idols unless they were dead and new artists need recognition over our worshipping of long gone glories.

My 2 cents guys wink.gif

I think quite a few of them would still be "idols" if they were here. I also believe that we need to keep in mind that many of them made a huge impact on music without the technology we have today. And a lot of new artists will get recognition because they stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before.

Just a thought.

Never said people shouldnt take inspiration from such artists, I just get sick of the whole idolising thing in general, there seems to be too much of it (in my opinion) - we keep our eyes fixed on the past and dont move forward, sure I like many artists - but I dont believe they are any better than anyone else here on this site as people and potentially as guitarists.

Technology is irrelevant, it's just another way of getting entertainment to the audience, true genius will be recognised in one form or another.

I'd bring back Dimebag, Bob Marley and Freddy Mercury.

Not on the list, but I would like to bring back Chuck Schuldiner as well and see a live show.

anybody remember Chris Olivia? He was a verry talented guitarist. Killed by a drunk driver.
