Hello GMC instructors.

My backround: I played in bands almost all of my life since I was a teenager. I played drums in original rock bands for a long time. I wound up quitting due to the constant dedication it takes to make a band work and get signed. I've messed around with my band mates guitars and bass over the years which has given me some skills. My last band was a hip hop band in which I played bass. That was a lot of fun but ultimately bass is not my thing. I am now dedicated to the guitar. I eventually want to get a band going but If I do it's going to be on the guitar this time.

I could use some advice about the proper route I should take to achieve my goals which are to be able to solo and become a better writer. I definately want to get theory down, but at the same time I need to get to know the different scales and also chords. As of now i've been working on some Paul Gilbert and Yngwie stuff on this site and it's helping with my picking and speed but in the end I need to learn scales and theory.

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Don Mega
