Maybe a -400 series ESP LTD with some seymour duncans? MH-400 if you want a tremolo or F-400 is nice too. ec-400 if you like the les paul look. just my opinions, of course i'm more into metal than rock, but i love my esp, set neck is nice.

there a bunch that are nice and all quite different
the three that jump to mind:
les paul studio or SG Classic
fender american strat standard
PRS SE Custom

The PRS should be well under a grand, the other two are right around $1000 or a hair more.
As an alternative to the studio the epi les paul custom black beauty with 3 pups, also as an alternative to the standard strat fender has one called the highway one that is a bit less expensive due to the finish but is still american made
these are just my opinions of course smile.gif

There are a lot of interesting guitars, depending on you taste. What brand do you prefer, so I can maybe recommend a model?

I'd say either a Gibson Les Paul Studio, or a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster with HSS pickups.

Warmoth ...hands down. You get exactly what you want. Super high quality parts.
Or Carvin especially on ebay used. They go for cheap and they are peerless in quality.

Yeah, since the guy points out that he plays mainly "rock", and that can be pretty much everything these days smile.gif The fender seems very versatile.

Yeah, versatile is the word for the Standart Strat. Guitar for life... and all around. With good "extras" can be a killer axe, imho.

Parker makes some good models also...

Also, tbh, I was expecting more Ibanez presence... but the 1 big limit...

Maybe can be wise wait a bit more and jump to the 1750 area... dunno... I'm in love with a couple of guitars priced like that...

Just my two cents...

Cheers!

Try to find Gibson Studio used, or a new Epiphone and change pickups.

On Gibson Studio you don't really need to, but on Epiphone you can consider for a better sound. It is not a rule tho, Epi pickups are decent too. IMO some humbuckers from DImarzio could make the sound even better.
