Whenever I see a stereo that has buttons instead of a knob for volume control, I have an almost uncontrollable urge to throw it on the ground and stomp it into pieces. It never does exactly what I want it to do - to get it where I want it to be I have to either press the button many times, or hold it, which always causes it to go past where I want it to be. Then of course when they get old they don't work well and you have to push on the button hard to get it to work, which is fine with me, it just gives me an excuse to punch the stuffing out of it Theres no winning with those damn buttons Do you guys share a similar sentiment, or do I just need to check myself into anger management?
Usually liking knobs is a bad thing, but in this case, you can love the knob with out doubting your masculinity
Knobs all the way!
I look at it like this.....can you imagine an amplifier that you change the settings with buttons? No thank you!
Theres a good reason that even the most modern mixing console / control surface uses far more knobs than buttons. I'm with ya.

Knobs all the way!! )
Edit: OMg I replied without readin previous answers and we all said exactly the same
knobs!!
I said knobs because they are cooler to turn. However, on my stereo, you turn the knob and it works just like buttons anyway. How lame. But I guess that's a cheap stereo system for ya. It's nice, but I wish it were like my parents' that works like a knob should. But I don't wanna leave buttons in the dust! Ever since I was a little kid, I've always been fascinated by buttons. I used to have a toy phone that played little tunes when you pushed different buttons. I annoyed my parents I'm sure, with those tunes playing over and over and over again. But it's probably also what my Mom added, "You've always been a musician."
UP TO THE KNOBS
I also hate the buttons for volume. I have a stereo in my car with BUTTONS for volume instead of knob. Its really time consuming, hard and distracting to simply change volume. I like to have a big knob for volume control. I think its much more efficient way to control that feature of stereo device.
