does anyone get this because i was playing last night and it hurt so i stopped and it went away. i did the same thing this morning. maybe its because i have arthristis?

You can always tell who the guys from non-english speaking countries are, they can spell.
I doubt it is arthritis. It will go away in all probability.

Who knows? It's extremely difficult to make a diagnosis on a forum and I don't think a guitar forum is the right place to get good answers about this.
They could hurt maybe if you play with too much tension but I'd hate myself if I told you it's so and later it shouws it's really arthritis.
All I can suggest is that you go see a doctor if your worried.

i already asked him but he said maybe it was the way i was holding it but i know im not holding it wrong and what would he know anyway

I don't think a doctor should settle for "maybe". If you try holding the pick a bit looser and think about not squeezing it that should help, arthritis or no arthritis.

Edit: Doh! I forgot my response when I wrote the above. I've gotten this before Nick, I just get it when I play nonstop for a few hours, a 2-5 minute break every now and then easily fixes this.
