Since Trond went back and redid one of his older songs with amazing results , I got in the same mood and have redone some older songs of mine as well. I also got to add my Steven Slate Drums on this, so that alone improves it a bunch. I got two songs here, Diamond Dog, and Nostalgia For Infinity. Both are some of the first songs I wrote when I was 15 or so, 5+ years ago. So let me know what you think!
Lyrics, as usual for those interested: ___________________________________ ___________________________________ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Diamond Dog _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ A mind intrigued by complexity A mind built for the ultimate challenge He will stop at nothing to know it's secret What lies at the top of the spire It's intelligence a disturbing presence It's taste for blood unsettling A mathematical prowess matched by no being It's puzzle reserved for only the most arcane thinker Misjudgment punished, Ignorance admonished I rise to meet this challenge I will undermine the alien sentience My mind and body altered to a hideous state Fusion of man and machine My brain undergoes it's metamorphosis My eyes see shapes where there once were none Thinking in equations and solutions I notice not what I have become A voice whispers, Into my sensors.... He has defied, Even the allure of sleep Resorting to a state of awareness Machines calculate and balance A toxic equation His body has defied, Even the hand of death Replace, replicate, regenerate By all means he will conquer This spire A man unrecognizable Beneath a veil of machines His humanity lost Somewhere amongst his desire To succeed A purpose unclear A will obscured His mind not what we knew His persona erased Beneath a veil of machines Diamond Dog A mind intrigued by complexity A mind built for the ultimate challenge He will stop at nothing to know it's secret What lies at the top of the spire It's intelligence a disturbing presence It's taste for blood unsettling A mathematical prowess matched by no being It's puzzle reserved for only the most arcane thinker Misjudgment punished, Ignorance admonished Severed limbs serve only as his mental marker Of where he left his problems unsolved I walk away in a tearful stride Leaving behind what I loved to the spire _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Nostalgia For Infinity _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Here I stand on the edge of a machine A spherical mass, Dwarfing the Sun Faced with the ultimate end of existence My eye's stare into infinity I walk along the surface of light Contemplating how it will end for me I know there is no other choice I must make my sacrifice Heart and mind Are conflicted As I force, My hand into the sphere I am soon consumed in it's light Falling inside this machine My arms desperately try to grasp Something, but nothing, In eternity Here I stand inside of this machine Vertigo obscuring, All my vision The figures before me barely shadows Try to explain this feeling to me Mind is relaxing, The pain is fading My feelings of fear have subsided Is this the life, That awaits me after death Is this to be my continuance I feel like a ghost in purgatory Held between life and death Existence stopped in a moment of time A pause for a breath Welcome to a simulated world This is to be your existence Body has died, But life pushes on Mind integrated in this machine A massive, galactic, Universal brain Infinite in it's calculations We have remained here for 900 years Studying life that never has been seen Isolated from the outside worlds Contained in our digital spheres Our bodies perished so long ago But we live on in the form of information We know you do not belong here Your destiny awaits in the coldness of space Take we have to impart to you Our infinite knowledge Here I stand on the edge of the machine Arms open, and ready to leave A short breath I take before.... ....Light Speed! © Brett Windnagle, 2010 ______________________________________________ ______________________________________________ EDIT Once again I had to raise vocals on NFI, I always mix them too low to begin with for some reason.
