For me it was the eighties , raised in the LA area , going to the Strip( Sunset, as in Hollywood), watching up and coming bands. I have enjoyed many styles over the years but it seems I never grow tired of a good old metal tune. I know what You mean - people do not like talking on demos and do not like pointless random playing as well. I made a few differetn type od demos through last few years and I have to agree. Thank You for kind words! jstcrsn - I would never call it better - "stick to their core" That's exactly what happened to me I have sold my soul to guitar if You ask Monica - thanx! Yeah - that guitar sounds briliant to me. In one of the mails Patrick called it "the ultimade metal machine"...seems he was right...but it sound great with a warmer tones as well. solo tone in the demo is actually not that metal... I grew up listening to Elvis and especially the Beatles as well as other artists of the era. I didn't listen to 90s music, rather exploring "history" of rock n roll and being totally fascinated with it. I never really got to play that kind of music, but I always had it at the back of my head as some kind of benchmark or something I was aiming for or envisioning when composing. For example that kind of strong vocal melody (Beatles like) was always a benchmark for a vocal melody I'd consider great. BTW - amazing playing in that video Darius! And/or what made us want to play music. The period you were born into has a tremendous effect on how you 'hear' music (and view art in general - books, movies, etc.). I was talking about this recently with a couple of friends. One guy about 10 years older than me mentioned how bands like Cream and the Yardbirds completely changed how you can make 'pop' music. For me, being born right into that time and hearing pop music with the influences of Cream/Yardbirds already in it - I think it's totally normal and natural. Something that "feels right" when trying to compose etc. That's why I do not dig modern djent etc even though I liek to listen a bit of it.
