Hey guys,
Last night I ordered GK-3 pickup for Roland GR-20. I will have it within a week (I hope) so expect some video clips with midi recording after that
Excellent, i hope when you get it you put a review up about this.
I have been thinking about getting a midi rig for my guitar, and the GR-20 and GK3 pickup seems like the way to go.
I havent been able to test it myself, the stores around here arent exactly chain stores so the selections are limited. Really interested in how it tracks etc.

Daniel I played it in Boston a year or two ago. My student had both pickup and GR-20 but he simply didn't use it and wanted to sell it. I tested in private school I was working at the time for 10 days or so and I have to tell you its fantastic! Amazing sounds and things you can do with 3 switch system is awesome. Some sounds are great on their own, some are better if you use switch that uses both midi and your guitar sound. So I plan to combine POD X3 Live with Roland GR-20 to get the full variety and specter of sounds. Since I am now forming a band with famous Serbian singer songwriter, and band will be rhythm section (bass and drums) + myself on guitar and him doing singing and occasional guitar tracks, GR20 will come really in handy for some brass woodwinds strings or keyboard sounds. Fantastic stuff. The only thing I am still thinking about is whether I should mount the pickup on my custom made guitar or to get one guitar just for purposes of GR20 stuff. I payed pickup 110euro last night and 2 years ago my student sold me actual Roland GR-20 for 300$ so I believe I got a very good deal since its all mint condition
Review and videos coming up when I get it and record some things. Idea is to post some video from live gig or sample at least so you can hear how I would use it in a band context.
Here is one useful review of it. There a lot more possibilities then ones presented in the video however this should give you idea how to use it in musical context
Congrats on getting it Pedja! Its a really useful midi solution for guitar, I'm looking forward to video from you with it!
Thanks Bogdan, it will be lots of fun! I am also looking into possibility of getting wireless thing for connecting the cables. It could look very cool on the stage and allow dancing jumping and all the rest
I got my Gk-3 pickup today. It cost me 110 euros and believe it or not it came without MIDI cable Rolands special midi cable, 5 meters long costs 47 Euro So I am paying extra 47 euros for that now... On top of that I will get another guitar which I will just use with midi stuff. Expenses everywhere but I know it will all pay off within a month or less
That's great Pedja, congratulations on the new pickup. Let us know how it works when you get the cable and guitar
Thanks Ivan. I will get some copy of Fender Stratocaster for whole midi deal. First I need to get the cable then I will purchase the guitar and have it set up properly. It might take 10 days or so but I hope it will all happen even sooner.
It has been almost a month and I am still waiting for shop to get MIDI cable for GK-3 pickup. I will then choose some stratocaster type guitar for it and from then on use it in live performances. Expect clips sometime next year
