I thought Jerry's tone on his new Power Chords Workout lesson was really cool, and I saw that down the page he said he was using a free guitar vst from SimulAnalog. I've downloaded the vsts, and they sound pretty good, even on a plain midi guitar. What I want to know though is how I could apply them to a real guitar. I'm guessing I need something like Guitar Rig but I'm not sure so if you could tell me how to do it or what software I need that'd be great.

Hi Matt,
I don't understand what you mean about "plain midi guitar". This package is not a collection of samples to use with MIDI.
You need a DAW software and a decent sound card (to avoid latency problems). Simply connect your guitar to the sound card and then you should use the plugin with your current channel.

Can you please specifiy your question? I am pretty sure I can help you, but I am not sure what are you trying to do.
When you can route a dry signal to your DAW, put the vsts in the fx chain and enable monitor output.

I saw Jerry's lesson recently and that VST sounds awesome. I will definitely download it and test it out smile.gif

Hey Matt I see what you want to do - use the vst "live". If you follow Jerry's advice you should be able to do that (by the way, cool that you tried it on midi first!)

You need a recording software (Reaper) and a sound recording interface (audio card). Connect your guitar to the sound interface. Activate the VST in your recording software. Make an audio track and route it to the VST that you have open. Enable the monitoring option on that audio track. Then when you play the guitar you should be able to hear it effected with the SimulAnalog.

Ask if you have any question about it when you fix the input, I'll be glad to help.

I didn't really use it with midi guitar, I was a bit confused when I wrote this topic. I imported a midi into FL Studio, applied a clean, dry guitar to it using FL Slayer (crappy guitar synth), then applied the vst effect to it.
