This has Been discussed when I first joined but I never did get quiktime pro but I am going to download it. And for anyone using a Mac and importing audio to iMovie and syncing video I would like to share this forum post I ran into from another site, I was reading up on recording.

Can I record a live video in Pro Tools using my audio gear for sound?
Pretty simple....I'm recording a vid of myself performing to send in as an audition. The quality of the video is not of huge importance....in fact, I was gonna use a webcam (that's all I've got), but, being the slut that I am, using the webcam's microphone is out of the question....even if the video looks crappy, the sound should be great, so I feel I have to use my own studio gear.
So yea, I'm basically looking to make a live recording that is simultaneously being captured on video via my webcam. Can this all be done in Pro Tools? I'm using PT 8, by the way (although I could reinstall 7.4 if need be).

On mac this is very simple using quicktime PRO.
Open QTP, go to preferences, then to the recording tab. Select your web cam as the video source, and your audio interface as the audio source. Set the format to "device native". Close preferences and click File>New Movie Recording.
Click record. Once you are done you will see that every channel of your interface has been discretely recorded by quicktime pro along with your video.
You can now export the movie to a multichannel aif file and import it into your daw to mix. Just be sure that your daw splits multichannel audio tracks on import because I don't know how many channels you have, but most DAWs don't like a 64 channel audio file being dropped on to the timeline. You can also extract the video to a separate file for import to the daw as well.
I do this all of the time with an HDV cam (usually scaled to dv) and my madi interface. QTP handles 64 channels 32-bit float no problem, and when I am done I import to nuendo and a few clicks later I have 64 channels of audio files ready to mix.
If you're on windows, sorry. I don't know if you can use QTP the same way or even if there is a QTP for windows.
