It's because we have to many people who think rap is music! That and I think we have to have played a guitar to truly appreciate Gilbert to the maximum! But I still think that today's society is wrecking the musical industry. Long Live Classic Rock!

And apparently he really digs all things japanese.
He only uses japanese guitars
He can speak japanese
with mr. big he had 3 albums with the title "raw like sushi"
and he's married to a japanese woman.
looks like me and mr. gilbert have similar interests, lol

Hopefully one day I will be able to get up on stage and play with such confidence like him.
there's been so many Paul Gilbert discussions, but this is the first one I'm replying to so I just want to say he is one of my biggest inspirations in music.

As Japan has a higher concentration of shred lovers than anywhere else in the world, you can't really blame them...
What I really like about PG is his tone, I find it awesome...
On a sidenote, I'd say this topic is in the wrong forum...

I was gonna post it there, but I'm so use to starting threads in the off-topic section. Like many civil war re-enactors, I fear change.

Golden headphones!! That actually reminds me, does anyone know why he always wears headphones when he plays?
Posted by: The Uncreator Nov 2 2007, 07:11 AM
Maybe there oversized in-ear monitors, or there just for looks, i mean, this is the man who played with guitar picks attached to a drill, who knows what he'll do.

Maybe he uses them on his Spaceship one? ( DVD plug! )
Posted by: botoxfox Nov 2 2007, 07:21 AM
Apparently, Paul has suffered massive hearing loss , so he needs to protect the little hearing he has left...

Posted by: Spiderusalem Nov 2 2007, 07:21 AM
He's got some sort of ear condition, and the headphones protect him I guess.
Thats a lie, they're actually magic headphones that gets its feed directly from guitar heaven, where he listens in on jimi hendrix and randy rhodes shredding.

Have to say Paul gilbert is my favorite guitarist , he is a very melodic shredder and just an all rounder instrumentalist and guitarist. I Have to agree that music nowadays are mostly rubbish MTV and what not mostly feature idiots like justin timberlake and rihanna and 50 cent ( no offence to the fans out there ) but i think the 80's was the climax of music and it all started going down hill from there
Don't get me wrong, i agree that there are awesome musicians and music from the 90's and now but not as ground breaking and influential as the 80's .. and though i was born in this era but i prefer the 80's ...
Long live gilbert
