Yes, you almost knew I was going to give this to you, didn't you ?? smile.gif

Well, I couldn't resist. I think you deserve something which makes you feel like you're chopping out an epic, hair in the wind, stood on a mountain, type solo !

It deals mostly with sliding, bending and general timing. Try to pick a nice, sustaining tone that will complement the sound of the lesson itself. It will need to be fairly high gain but not over the top. Try to leave in a healthy amount of mid, not scooped out.. and try not to add too much treble so that it becomes fizzy.

If you're able to, either pick a preset with a bit of delay or dial some in to add that extra touch of supreme guitar god-like status ! cool.gif

I look forward to hearing you guys break out solos that will make even the fallen warriors in Valhalla cry with pride !

Deadline is next Friday 7th December

I had a lot of fun playing this, and I almost felt like you're saying : "hair in the wind, stood on a mountain", because I was stood up and my fan blew my hair away biggrin.gif

YAY ! Christophe gets a Donut ! biggrin.gif

Thanks for your take, you worked fast...

Ok, a couple of elements that stand out to me for improvement are 1. String bending, getting the pitch right. 2. Timing, trying to avoid rushing in front of the beat.

Hopefully this will help give you an idea of things to look for when you practise anything on the guitar. You can think to yourself 'Ok, timing.. bending' when you're practising smile.gif

Well done C !!

Yeah ! Thanks biggrin.gif

I'll do a better take soon I think. I just wanted my donut xD And since I was working on it since yesterday it was time to upload it smile.gif

I played over the main video (not with the bt as I usually do) this could explain the little timing issues smile.gif

Here's my hair in the wind, Stacks of marshall amps, misty mountain top epic solo. biggrin.gif

Thanks by the way for the EQ advice that was really cool although I forgot to add any delay. If any thing tone wise is not working I'm listening I do think a bit of delay would have added to it now that I think about it.
Actually I heard Todds review on the mini orange head and picked up about leads having some mids in them and for riffing scoop them out.

So Ben next week 30 shred solos! I'm ready ha ha biggrin.gif Although I will be learning some of them to pick up on some cool runs and ideas for sure. That was fully epic Ben. Have you learn't alot of there solo's in the past? There is some serious amount of time gone into that.
I might start analysing this new album I got of itunes "Defining Armageddon" Ha smile.gif
Congrats on your album.

This solo really got me working on vibrato and feel. I must say getting time to put vibrato on is a work in progress. I would have liked to rec this but I think there is room for improvement. And I've run out of time at the moment.

Nice to have you on board Christophe! So you got the donut. Now you'll have strenght for next weeks task.

The Z-Master Cometh !! And he bringeth a solo of steel, forged from the iron ore from the mountains of The Dragon's Teeth !! cool.gif

The tone works well.. yes delay is always good for adding a little 'magic' atmosphere but it still sounds good as it is smile.gif

30 Shred Solos ? Ok, go for it.... I'll expect a butt kicking take around Wednesday ? It's a good idea tough.. seriously, it's always worth picking up just the bits you like from something, regardless of the difficulty level. Those ideas can still be used at whatever tempo you like, not to mention just practised in the background until you've got them ship shape and ready to whack into your solos.

Apart from Schenker, Friedman, Uli Roth and I suppose Yngwie I've never really tried to emulate those players before. Before I tackled any of them I thought in my head about the aspects that made them unique and weighed up what things I would logically be able to replicate with my guitars, my tone, my ability .. and just went from there. Some I had to do some YT research on but most I just sat down and worked it out smile.gif

You got DA ?? Oh man, thank you !! The first copy in Aus, probably ! biggrin.gif

I see you putting some more focus n the vibrato which is excellent, glad to see it. Bends are doing well too. I imagine you were pushed for time fitting this in, and my only critical observation is that you weren't matching the timing of the phrases.. but that's mostly down to having time to memorise and go over something so don't take that seriously, just a minor note.

Bushido has always been about you guys being able to give what you can, when you can, no obligations so if I ever make a critical observation that is mainly explained by not having enough time to get it down properly, then just don't take it to heart if you get me ? smile.gif

Excellent work this week guys.. I'm impressed and proud !!

Cheers Ben

I think I've got into a habit of not revisiting the original to see if I've got it spot on. Lets blame it on time good idea smile.gif
