I found this track from a bit ago and I'm going to start working on it again. I had forgotten how much I liked it Whaddya thinK?
This has got to be one of my fave guitar tones ever. Tight, Grinding, Krunchy. It defines everything I"m going for in tone. Also, doesn't sound like a bunch of bees or fizz like cola. That's often the hard part. To get enough gain to sound heavy without it sounding like angry bees or fizzy cola. If you are listening on laptop speakers, just skip it until you can find some real speakers to enjoy it on. If all you have are ear buds, it's still a bit of a waste. But if you have some nice monitors, especially with a sub, you get the full effect. https://soundcloud.com/techniqueswithtodd/bonesaw-preview This post has been edited by Todd Simpson: Feb 12 2017, 04:30 AM |

What do I think? I think it sounds great! Can you say something about the gear you used and how you mixed it?

Thanks It's really a simple setup. Recording direct, no amp, just guitar to interface. 7 String Ibby with Stock Pickups. The Secret sauce to the guitar tone is OVERLOUD TH2. I have TH3 as well, but still find it easier and quicker to make patches in TH2. Good news is that you can import TH2 patches in to TH3 Drums are just Toontrack Ez Drummer Metal Heads Expansion. Just a quick sketch really, put together in Garage Band and planning to later import to LOGIC. I find GB much quicker and simpler to put basic ideas together than Logic or Reaper, personally.
Here is the Guitar Tone Patch for TH2! TH2_BoneSawPatch.xml.zip ( 13.92K ) Number of downloads: 39 *The secret to the tight Meshuggah tone, is the Parametric EQ at the front of the signal chain. Amp God Mikle Fortin Designed custom tube amps for meshuggah that sound just about like that patch I just shared. Of course, those amps costs thousands of dollars. Patches are free in my hreads and overloud is a couple hundred bux. So lots cheaper Then The Drums are very simple. Just EZ Drummer with the METAL HEADZ Expansion pack. I don't remember if you are a MAC or PC user BTW? If you are a Mac user, then you probably know what I'm talking about in terms of Garage Band Todd What do I think? I think it sounds great! Can you say something about the gear you used and how you mixed it?

Thanks for the preset. FYI, check your input level. Judging by the output levels here, your input signal is probably about 10db lower than it should be.
