Is there such a thing as a cheapish valve amp biggrin.gif Is it for home use only? If it is you want to look for something up to 20W max really for valve.

why not go for an orange tiny terror?

they're affordable and have a killer sound - besides that they're still loud enough
to make you neighbours angry laugh.gif

for practise or not? personally i love wearing headphones, cus i can play as loud as i want. you'd need a pod or a valve preamp then though.

Right,I don't think you need amp for practicing at all,
I mean while you're on raw practicing.
On the other hand, if you're giging and you're playing
some extra technical stuff then it's usually good
to practice using same gear/sound you're gonna use for gig,
gives you more overall control. smile.gif

If you need amp for practice at home, you buy it. In my experience the amp you are going to buy is directly related to the amount of money you have, so this will decide the model. So - what's the budget? smile.gif

Line 6? .. smile.gif no.. id recommend something 30W-75W range... Maybe something Fender? I know fender has some okay opening level amps and they have a nice sound for just home practice.. really if it is just for home practice i wouldn't worry about tone or anything just buy something. smile.gif

for that much money, the choice is very wide. DO you have any particular amp, or model that you heard and you like? That is also a very important thing.

Cheapo tube amps that I have a feeling the demanding amp enthusiasts in general like are Blackheart Killer ant and Little Giant.

Or the Epi Jr for that matter.
