I play guitar and sing (as lead cantor) every weekend at two churches. Sometimes I am the only music leader at a church service. That is when my guitar should be more dominant and graceful. I really need to improve and I hope you all can help me.

I also sometimes perform at local cafes, doing my own original folk-rock songs.

You can tell that I mostly do strumming and arpeggio. I want to be able to do lead soloing (e.g. song intros and interludes) and riffs.

I have these guitars: nylon acoustic, 6-string steel acoustic, 12-string acoustic and Fender Stratocaster electric. I have a mandolin, too.

Hey Richard - and welcome to GMC!

To get started with leads - I would suggest you pick a lesson that suits your taste without it being too difficult (maybe something this one? http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Guitar-Loves-Piano-2/ )

Your goal should not necessarily be to learn the whole lesson, but rather learn just a few tricks of the trade (for soloing - you basically you want to get started with bending, vibrato and the pentatonic scale). Piotr's lesson is cool because there a lottle of small details you can learn from it, some of them are tricky but other you will be able to learn quickly and start using.

As soon as you have learned something from the lesson, you can either move on to a new lesson - or choose to learn the entire lesson and then submit a REC take. Whatever feels more stimulating to you!

Beside what Kris said, you can also choose a mentoring program with one of our instructors and make with him a guitar plan. This can be a good start to work and develop your guitar skills. We have amazing instructors here and always they make a particular program for each student
At this moment available instructors for mentoring are Gabriel and Todd. You can choose to work with one of them or even both if you have more time. After you choose which instructor you like more (or both) you can sent him a private message.

BTW most of us we do mentoring with an instructor. It's an amazing help for us to have fast results in playing

Hi Richard! Welcome to GMC! I've also enjoyed your videos! You have a very powerful and warm voice and your rhythm on guitar is consistent. Well done!

About your plans on expanding your playing. Are you planning to do it with pick and maybe electric guitar? or you plan to keep on playing on acoustic nylon guitar? This is something important to know in order to recommend the right lessons.
