Saw this over MA. I actually like it. Really heavy stuff and the addition of pinch harmonics is quite nice.

haha well I'm not the one to post Opeth stories around here since I only like Orchid and Morningrise, but I find this sound very refreshing for them.

Awesome song indeed, but im gonna quote our Opeth specialist, Fsgdjv biggrin.gif ! He can't open the forum page for some reasons, wich means he can't post at the moment, so here is what he asked me to post for him:

"Yeah, that song is great, I was there when they played it last week, really good, allthough it's always hard to see stuff live for the first time, especially with lots of fat germans pushing you hard towards the fence.. But yes, the song is great, simpler than usually but I like it and I can't wait to see how it's on the album.
The only problem is that I don't like fredriks solo, but that'll grow on me I guess."

"Fact is, nothing in the world bores me more than gear...If I played thru your rig, I would still sound like me. Van Halen would sound like Van Halen. Brian May...etc. Very early in my career I decided to focus on creating music and not being a guitar tech. Being a good guitar tech is a very different and extremely difficult job, so why not leave it to a pro?"

I thought the solo was pretty good. Mikaels was cooler though tongue.gif

The sound quality was not very good.. I'm sure it'd sound twice as good on the album.

I've watched this video on youtube for a million times now ('cause Im a HUGE Opeth fanboy) and I must say I really like it! smile.gif Mikael has yet again added some new influences to Opeth's sound.

I must agree though, that I really didn't like Fredrik's solo, I hope that there's not much of shredding on the new album overall, because Opeth has always been about melodic solo's to me smile.gif

Damn I wish the new album would already be released!!! rolleyes.gif

You're right, but I don't think the melodic part is going away. I don't mind some shred mixed in occasionally, but the melodic opeth sound is still there.. for example the outro to the song was very melodic, or Mikael's solo. So I'm happy smile.gif

I think he is pointing out that the song sounds "Evil".

Or at least, this is how i took it.

The song though, Is Amazing, Mikale Akerfeldt, is a good.

Well, hearing a song for the first time live is actually not the best way to hear it imo, since I was basically just trying to listen and follow, and you got a bit lost at times. It was amazing there, but not as good as some of the other songs they played.. rolleyes.gif But, the song is amazing, allthough I wasn't expecting such straight on metal song, but I'm really not complaining, this is an amazing song, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

I love Opeth! I have seen them twice and will be seeing them a 3rd time in less than a month now. They are such geniuses. I can't wait for Watershed and the Roadhouse Tapes dvd (Opeth in HD = bliss)

I'm so glad Fredrik found a good home after being bumped back out of Arch Enemy, and it's great to see that the new faces haven't changed that great opeth sound!
