I loooooooooooooove our Second Amendment

You and me both brother! I'm a proud NRA Endowment Life Member!

I can understand how people from other countries can be confused about the cultural difference. I guess you have to be raised seeing the positive side of firearms. If you only see the negative on the news, then you couldn't help but be biased.

I've been robbed in my own house twice, Both times, If had a firearm with me, I would have not hesitated use it. Stuff like that makes me keep one now. There are people out there who will try to hurt you and your family for the sake of it, So if they show up, I think a firearm is not only a safe and good choice, it should be recommended!! laugh.gif

Exactly. No government will ever tell a free man how to protect his family.

+1 +1 +1 +1 +1

I grew up in a hunting family and as such learned about firearms at a very early age. It is noted that most of the people who have positive responses to this video are Americans and this in no doubt is due to our culture. Although I am sure some will disagree.. I sincerely believe that Americans are fortunate that its founding fathers understood the significance of allowing citizens to keep and bare arms, thus keeping the govt in check. An unarmed society is powerless and this fact has been exploited numerous times by the world's most ruthless dictators.

Just one quick note about that...
It might be that you can protect your family in your own house, but in alot of countries (including Denmark) YOU get arrested if you hurt the burglar, even in your own home (yes it's kinda stupid). I know your law is different, so that's why it's a disagreement really.

But again, like you said, it depends on where you grew up. And it can be hard to see things positive about the other culture, when you are used to your own (two way street I guess).

And this comment wasn't meant to ruin your video smile.gif I just thought I'd add a few facts

No apologies needed! The multi-cultural aspect of GMC is one of it's biggest positives! I love hearing about each others cultures, and thoughts.

Just so I understand you correctly...in Denmark, if a burglar breaks into your house and is posing an immediate danger to your family, and you shoot him...YOU go to jail?! Are guns illegal in Denmark - is that the reason you would be arrested? What if you hit him over the head with a bat? Would you be arrested for harming him?

Sorry but it´s NOT stupid! And you don´t get arrested if you hurt the burglar but in Europe we have an element of crime called "exceeding selfdefense" - and THAT is simply not the case in the US of A.
The GMC forum is of course not the right place to discuss the reasons behind such differences (and there are many, well founded and historically rooted reasons) so I´m just attaching a picture which illustrates my feelings about this topic quite well! wink.gif

He is stating that if you use a gun with the bad guy IN your house you still get arrested! Definitely not the same here! You are right though, if the guy is running away you can't shoot him in the back...probably can in Texas though! laugh.gif

Thank god! But let's not turn this into a political discussion...this was a thread about a video that cracked me up as a guitar player AND proud gun owner!

That´s what I meant when saying that the GMC forum is NOT the place to discuss this into every detail and I also stated that there are reasons why our countries/continents are so different! No judgement about right or wrong! wink.gif

Good discussion. I don't own a gun but love what Ted stands for. I want to be able to get one if I want, but all my money is spent on other things. I used to have a few but sold them long ago since they were rifles and I have no need for them. Next gun I do get will be a 9mm. And that vid is really old. Ted is even crazier now.

LOL Kahall...man did that vid bring back memories!

I was going to post a comment regarding Ted but I ran of gas (not gear acquisition syndrome.. i just got tired) after my gun comment. I view Ted as a voracious defender of the US Constitution and for that I applaud him.. he is all about freedom. That said, I also view him a bit like Simon Cowell. Sometimes what he says is harsh, direct and tainted with rhetoric.. but when I really listen to the message its very hard to disagree with him.

Kudos to the members of GMC for expressing interest in and being understanding of the culture of other countries. Discussions of this type on the web often spiral into a mess. GMC Rocks! smile.gif
