Hi,
I am kranthi kedari. Can anyone tell about scales and a good way of practising them..... and also wat scales are need for rock style of guitar..
Thanks
Kranthi
I advise learning the modes first. Just play them up and down until you have memorised the shapes.
Lol, Welcome to GMC Kranthir! A good thing, is to go to Andrew;s theory board, http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=3351 . This man is a walking encyclopidia (dunno how to say that right) and he explains everything well. In this topic, there is information on scales/chords/ everything you want to know! Good luck!
Welcome aboard mate! If you are just starting with scales, possibly you can check out my http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/pentatonic-workshop-level1-caged-format-timing-exercises/.
Thanks a lot for your help....
Welcome. I suggest starting with minor and major pentatonic scales. Those are great for rock licks. After that learn Major scale and the modes of the major scale. As you progress you will understand the whole concept of using them and practicing. Feel free to ask any questions if you have.
Welcome to GMC once again
Most common scale used is Minor pentatonic. If you master that scale well then you can move onto Blues scale and start learning modes of Major scales.
Practice with backing tracks, solo over Blues chord progressions , thats your best place to start right away !
