Here's the entry that actually made me pickup the guitar in 1973, nine years old.....
And Deep Purple is still by the best in my book!!! (did I hear Emir agree??? tongue.gif )
Happy reading!

Nice one Staffy one of my favourite bands. biggrin.gif

I'm definately a MK II man and I regard that as the classic lineup. Made in Japan has some of the best rock music ever and should be required listening for anyone who says they like rock music.

I enjoyed the Smoke on THe Water video from 1973 it reminded me of all the early gigs I went to as a teenager.

For me gigs them were so much better than now, going to see a big band now it is much too sterile, you are too far away, you watch them on a screen and modern equipment and the standards of playing are so good that you may as well listen to the cd.

Back then live music seemed so much more real and intimate and for that so much more fun and exciting.

Perhaps Im just getting old and showing my age!

I remember seeing AC/DC at Newcastle Mayfair a small venue no bigger than a school hall and being only inches from Angus, great fun! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hahaa, I guess I am as well then...(old) I just love the times when everything was kinda improvised and the live-act always was better than the records. Well, AC/DC must have been cool! smile.gif I've seen Zappa in 1979, as well as Marley, Queen and some others. Unfortunately I wasn't old enough at the time Mark II or Mark III was present, even though I've listened to them back then. My mother would NEVER attend a Deep Purple concert... I guess that's just bad luck! tongue.gif
