Bad Habbit !

I cant find a solution for this !..so many years i do it so ,but i feel ,and see from others ,that it is wrong !! I dig in the pick always a litle ,but enouf for having to much resistance!! I know when I how my pick I show about 5mm of my pick. I used to hold it between my thumb and both my index and middle finger, it took me a while to break that habit and just use the side of my index finger and my thumb, but that really helped with speed and less tension. I think that this could be a problem because maybe this finger is muting the string a bit. Your hand should be a bit more relaxed, yes, tension is another problem there. At the same time you are picking too fast, you should start slower trying to get a regular timing and the same volume for upstrokes and downstrokes. When tension rises it's always a bit of a problem . ..you know it.. And indeed creating nice clicks.. you have a good angle though....try all strings too cause this is a very important aspect of playing Gabriel posted a good training there .and there's also the "picking hand basics" lesson from Mister Higgins! succes !! I see in another post you got a STYLUS PICK which is a great place to start. Here is a video demo I did demonstrating a good pick angle and depth. Take a look and focus on the pick where it's hitting the string. Notice how I choke up on the pick, and how I don't dig to deep in the strings once I speed up. You're holding it too close to the tip. The thumb placement is... borderline, you could get away with it, but the index finger is far too close to the tip of the pick. When I play, there's MAYBE two or three mm of the tip of my index finger past the left side of my thumb when playing. This will give you more control and precision when playing. Bring your index finger up higher and start over again with some basic exercises for picking, you'll soon grasp the technique and be flying in no time!
