GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Drum Lessons At Gmc?! New Instructor Kyle Logue!

Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Jan 25 2008, 11:55 AM

Hey there, ok no idea to keep it secret any longer: We are working to make GMC the best possible place to start a successful Virtual Band! This brings me to the point:

Welcome Kyle Logue! laugh.gif

Kyle is 22 years old from Nacogdoches tx (edited - sorry for mistaking your location! smile.gif ) - he is a subscribing GMC member and contacted me a couple of weeks ago. And now it looks like the first drum lesson at GMC is about to become reality!

His first lesson will illustrate a very simple beat + fill, using an electronic drumset. This lesson should provide some excellent instructions on how to create a beat in your sequencer software. In other words these lessons will be aimed towards the average gmc guitar student! (you won't be needing a drumset to us ethese lessons) smile.gif

Kyle also impressed me with great songwriting skills:

Awesome News.....and Welcome Kyle!

Posted by: MickeM Jan 25 2008, 01:46 PM

This is cool! Just like Chris I've been wanting a electronic drumset for some time now but always wiped those thoughs away because I'd never get going. ...may have to buy a larger house first though.

Drums + songwriting will be just great! And so was the demo song. I do have a drumming problem with EZdrummer, I usualy put an simple beat first, then record guitars and after that I go find the beat I want. Isn't that the wrong way to approach it? Anyway, hoping to pick up some ideas and hints to songwriting here!

Welcome as an instructor! :-)

Thanks guys for welcoming me to the site. I'm really looking forward to contributing. One thing that Kristofer had a little wrong is that I actually recently moved to Nacogdoches tx...that just isn't shown on my myspace yet.

As for me, I do a little bit of everything. I've been playing the guitar for about 5 years now and I picked up the drums close to 3 years ago now. I'm self taught and play mostly by ear. I'm pretty much a computer nerd and I've found ways to create cool sounding music because of it. (check out the attached song)

Here at GMC I would hope to contribute to everyone. I will show you how to get up to speed quickly on drums as well as create some of the most commonly used beats. I'll probably even throw in lessons on how to get the most out of some top notch and free drum synths.

I'm all about writing songs and with GMC I hope to help others grow as well as grow myself. Plan on many many collaborations.

-Kyle

Lessons are currently being developed, so if you know of something you'd like to see, please send me a private message or contact me on AIM(i'm usually on). Anything from synthesizers, to drum loops, to actual sticking is up for grabs.
