Hello people, so i would like to se your opinions on acoustic guitars, i don't have a ton of experience with acoustic guitars so that's why im asking, i need to get one and i just met a guy that imports old Japanese guitars, from the 70-80s, and he has some very cool acoustics for about $200!

Im talking about yamaha, fender, tokai, greco etc.

Now im thinking, metal or nylon strings? share ur thoughts!

That's a very good price man! I prefer metal strings for blues, rock, pop and metal.

yeah gabriel, i think i think so too, i love how nylon sounds too but i guess metal is more versatile for me.

yeah, but if you want to play a classical piece, nothing is better than a nylon guitar.

Well, personally I would go for steel. It's possible to do some bends with it, and it's good for many styles. nylon is awesome, has great sound, but dunno, steel is better cool.gif

thanks guys, so it eds up like the "vitage" guitars were a pile of Japanese trash biggrin.gif, so i went to try some new ones, because i needed a guitar to travel and compose and i found a $200 steel guitar from china, i was very suspicious about it at first, but it does sound good and it's comfortable to play, better than many $400 ibanez, in the headstock it says "melody" but i don't care about that tongue.gif

My little brother has nylon strings on his acoustic. When I've played around with it, I can say I still love steel strings. They are much brighter. By the way, do nylon strings go out faster than steel strings? My brother has a baby Taylor and he's always having to tune that thing.

hey thanks guys, in the end i had to give back the guitar, it had a very nasty imperfection in the fretboard that i didn't notice in the store sad.gif

BUT i put some more money in and got myself an ibanez, lovely guitar, souds incredible for a $200-$300 acoustic, will post some pics soon smile.gif

for me that's a tough question right now. I mean, Nylon strings are just lovely and in some way more versatile for soloing and stuff like that. But then again, metal strings sound is huge!
