I sent him a PM around 3 weeks ago, and he told me that : "Thanks for the kind words - I'll do my best to deliver some more new songs..!"

^^

NB : I've verified and it's been exactly one month ago, you're accurate dude biggrin.gif

Thanks for asking!

Musically I am laying low currently - but I am working on several other things which feel important to me and which give me creative satisfaction.

The most important one being that I am planning a complete overhaul of GMC's backend code. This might not sound very intriguing, but those of you who have experience of web development probably understand the hassles of working with a complexe website based on a low-budget fundament. Many organic startups face this kind of problem - it is a critical breakpoint when developping new stuff just becomes too difficult due to inconsistent backend structure. At this point even the thickest webmasters ( wink.gif ) realise it is time to prioritise deep cleaning.

In English this means I am considering rebuidling GMC so that we can finally fix all those obvious site flaws - and then start adding powerful features in a higher tempo than we have done before. We have always had a lot of plans but we have had troubles getting there, because just maintaing the site has become a huge job.

The downside is that a rebuild will affect GMC's development pace the coming time. However, we are also planning several community upgrades the coming time which don't require any code change (and which therefore can be done in parallel of the site rebuild). In other words - I hope we will be seeing cool new stuff anyway!

So to make a long story short, the answer to the "what I am up to" question - is that I am all about GMC GMC GMC wub.gif

Code is an Art all it's own, and one I hope to learn more about as I go. I have a pal who codes C++ and I've not yet been able to wrap my head around it. I see what you mean about a dilema on the progress of the site, ground up rebuild, or incremental addition? It's almost the code equivalent of MARSHALL or MESA in a way. Just a tough choice all around smile.gif

To simplify even more you're doing, what huge websites do, a version 2 (v2) of GMC smile.gif
