I still dont really understand how to make my own chord progressions either I think the key is to listen and play some folk/pop/rock or whatever you want, where there are different chord progressions. You know, also in metal music there are chord progressions but if you take a look at different genres, you will have different points of view. Knowing the theory about tonality and chord construction can help too, because you know the relationship between chords. Use your ears as well to find chords and melodies when you're listening something new. -------------------- ::: Main Gear ::: Guitars: Washburn N4 Vintage | Washburn N2 | Washburn WI67Pro | Washburn WG-587 | Washburn EA20B Amps: Laney GH50L (head) | Laney GS410 & GS212IE (cabinets) | Rocktron PROGAP Ultra (rack preamp) | Rocktron Velocity 150 (power amp) | Marshall VS230 (combo) FXs: Rocktron Intellifex + custom pedalboard (check my video demo) Other: Shredneck | Intellitouch PT10 tuner Picks: Esseti Picks Software & Recording Gear: Cubase 4 | Overloud TH1 | Mackie Onyx 400F | EZdrummer | Korg Pandora PX4D ------------------------------------------------------- myspace.com/jerryarcidiacono Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Ear training and improvising are great topics to work on indeed.
But for the best results with them you should learn as much more stuff as possible. And I think of both GMC lessons and real music. With learning new stuff you expand your lick library, which is absolutely the most important thing for improvising. And at the same time you train your ears, of course if you learn more with ears and less from tabs. -------------------- Youtube

I know that starting improvising is always hard. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/misc-less...writing-lesson/
Ivan haw a great lesson on this topic.I think that good practice is to take a simplest progression,A C D,and try to come up with few themes every day. This post has been edited by Nemanja Filipovic: Sep 25 2008, 06:21 PM -------------------- |
