If it's the bridge, you can test with a folded piece of tin foil under one of the string (normally the top E String is the case). Then re-tune and check, if the buzz semi goes, use a larger folded piece, if it's gone completely you need to repair the bridge, but it's possible to just play with that foil there for up to 11 years, lol!

I had buzzing noise issues with my old fender, the high E String buzzes.
I fixed that as explained in the previous post, adjusting the bridge up a bit.

My Les Paul Gibson is humless, never hummed unless you really really crank it and add in feedback from effects/amp.
It has a double coil / hum canceller in the pickup I believe as well.

If it's something new (the hum) to the guitar or gotten worst, you probably can fix it a cheaper way, however if it's always been there, check pickups and noisegates like Todd said.

A bit of hum can add character, too much kills it!

Hey Todd, great lesson and great chat yesterday, and thank you so much for the slower BT at 60 bpm. I was wondering if you could also upload it at 70 and 80 bpm, as I am now able to do the fast lick at 60 and I want to push myself a bit more.
btw, how fast is the original BT?
See you
Christian

Video Lesson #2, Alternate Picking from The Ground Up.

I"ve made a video lesson to go with lesson 2 in the lesson notes page. The full notes and tablature for all my vid chat lessons can be found at
http://bit.ly/lessonnotes
Here is the video. It's also part of the notes.

Practice!

Pretty brisk smile.gif Trond is a killer player. Check some of the lesson vid demos I put up in the lesson notes, I'm not tracking BPM in the videos, or playing playing at full burn, but I usually try to show what it will sound like fast so the speeds on some of the demos sound about in that range, look at lesson 21, 23, 24. I"m sure you can work up to it if you haven't already, just takes practice.
