A few years ago I picked up an Epiphone Dot, a pretty decent guitar for 400eur. Recently I took the gloss off with a little success and also put a new wiring harness and thornbucker pickups in it.
Sounds great but I'm not a fan of the neck profile which is a flattish D Just this week I find out there is an Epiphone 335 which is a little more expensive but has a round C shape neck. I wish I did my research and bought that instead. I'm thinking about buying the 335 and putting the old guitar back to original and giving it away to someone -------------------- My SoundCloud

I sanded it to a satin finish, it isn't perfect but looks less plasticy

Could be a guitar that you can use to experiment with, as Mertay says. If you've already settled on giving it away, then you're not really gonna lose anything.
