Mine was Belgrade Beer Fest, last night... Man, if you ever planned to come, don't.. Awful crowd, terrible beer. I hate to say this... (as a guy who likes beer ).
Here's a picture, after it was moved to a bigger location:
Here is where it was before (Bogdan and I played on this one in 2006, he played in 2005 as well )
One of Belgiums biggest festivals has just been aborted....heavy thunderstorms, stages collapsed, trees pulled out etc...it's total chaos overhere. One person lost his life in the apocalyptic circumstances....lots of injuries.....sadness...
The foo fighters were about to perform....everything is cancelled ofcours...
My last (latest) festival was Rockstad Falun 2010. I saw Sabaton, Gamma Ray, Alestorm, among others.
Man, I hope they are OK, let us know what happened. Do you have some link, was it on the news?
Man, I haven't been to a festival since 2003 or something.. it was Ozzfest at Donington
I can't remember the last Festival that I went... but I'd love to go to the Chile's Lollapalooza the next year...
Mine was Dour (with Kyuss Lives, Skindred and lot's of drum and bass and dubstep dj's) and Lokerse Feesten (with Airbourne, Kyuss Lives and Triggerfinger)
Too bad I couldn't do more this year
I'd love to go to some USA festival once! Coachella for example
The last fest...last week's fest where we played, a local thing with big Romanian names such as Phoenix
I dont go to many festivals and i dont think i have been to any this year
I'm planning on going to Rock Im Park next year or Nova Rock, depending on the line-up of course, now the idea is that my 2009 experience at Rock Im Park was so awesome, that it's most definitely worth going a second time
You're lucky mate, that must have been awesome
Ivan, You have to try this at least once - it'll make you want to try it twice it's an incredible experience!
I didn't like the Belgrade Beer Fest much this year either. I saw Simple Minds and it was a great demonstration of how a good sound tech (they brought their own) can make a huge difference on the same PA/gear
I live near Kalemegdan and old location for the festival was much much better and more intimate
Now - it was just way too crowded and somehow it lost it's charm/spirit.
+ Idea of selling stuff at 4x price then in regular stores is just crazy ))
I'm really glad that I had a chance to play twice in the old location - those are some amazing memories.
Have you guys noticed how at some festivals, they make you buy stuff which is way more expensive than usual? In Romania it happens all the time In Germany, for instance, in 2009 at Rock Im Park, you could buy a Becks beer for 3.3 euros and if you gathered 10 empty plastic beer recipients you received a free beer. Now that's smart - no one threw anything around!
So far this year:-
Isle of Wight. (Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon)
Green Man,
The Glade,
The Big Chill,
WOMAD,
The Beer Blues Festival,
Rewind (last Saturday) and next week might be working a spotlight at the Reading Festival!
I just came back from the Area 4 Festival
It's a rather small festival close to my hometown, but with some awesome bands. The Headliners this year were the Dropkick Murphys, and what an awesome show they played! Just before one of my favourite bands played: NoFX. One of the best live bands ever, since these guys are so funny...before that, the Deftones played. Awesome as well! I also saw a couple of new bands and bought some records today.
I can recommend Veara if you're into pop-punk, these guys are pretty new.
Another headliner (on friday) was 30 seconds to mars...they're show was really weak, then again, they were about to play at the Pukkelpop in Belgium and their equip was on stage while the stage collapsed...so I'm pretty sure they were somewhere else in their thoughts...
I also went to the Hurricane Festival this year and saw the Foo Fighters standing in the first row...what an awesome live-band they are!
I am already planning for next year...I am pretty sure I am going to the Hurricane and Area 4 Festivals again, plus Rock am Ring
Christian
My last festival was "Stoned from the Underground" near Erfurt, Germany. It's a nice little party with only about 2000 stoner fans from all over the country and abroad and I really dig the relaxed atmosphere! Everything u need is just a step away and if you're in the mood to see a band from the first line, there's so much space that you can just literally walk there, without ever been pushed around Monster Magnet was headlining this year, but my favorites were definitely Eyehategod and Church of Misery which both had a really badass sound!
Last years headliner was Garcia plays Kyuss btw, so I'm pretty curious who's gonna be next
Sonisphere in the UK, Slipknot Opeth In Flames Limp Biskit, it was great!
