As the season draws in and thing get even colder, we've got to keep those fingers working ! So I've unearthed a gem from David Walliman which has some groovy chromatic licks with some vibrato and bending. It's quite expressive and you may find it demanding but thankfully it's short so I think you'll manage this ok in the week that you have !

This will be another good opportunity to work on timing and vibrato.. and it sounds cool as anything cool.gif

Deadline is next Friday 9th November or I'll make you watch Bambi 7 times in a row with no sleep, food or drink. ph34r.gif

Hey Ben, I'm back to the temple wink.gif
I have a problem with the bends on the B string while keeping a note on the E string (from 13'' to 15'' on the main video). My E string gets out of tune when I pull the B string. Is there anything I can do (except throw my guitar away mad.gif ) ?
Merci beaucoup cher maître.

common problem with guitars with vibrato systems (by bending you pull the whole bridge system towards the neck and lower down all other strings)

only way to still do unison bends that comes to my mind apart from fixing the bridge is to bend both strings
(you do the bend on the b-string and at the same time do a little bend on the e-string to reach the same tone)

Double G ! Welcome back smile.gif

That is an annoying problem with tremolo equipped guitars. Myself, I just ignore it and play the unison bend as normal as it usually doesn't affect too badly, just a little.

Ok here we go. I didn't know if I would get it up this week. At full speed it was pretty quick with the finger gymnastic's, so I'm happy that I got this.
A few timing issues and my unison bends could be better but I really enjoyed playing these licks, some really great stuff in here.
No video this week I don't have time. smile.gif

Sounding great, homey !! Yeah, just a few timing blips but I reckon you really got behind that and gave it plenty of attitude ! You deserve that Donut ! smile.gif

One thing I'd try to do is aim for more note separation, like at 00.05. That second open E string should ring out clearly. So use your right hand to mute notes so they don't ring too long so they 'pop out' smile.gif

Christophe - You can slow down your backing track and record the whole thing. I found "song surgeon" for this and It seems better than audacity.

thanks for your comments smile.gif

Glad you mentioned that Ben. I did start of muting it but it sounded to dead. I probably need to work on this.
Oh do you mean play it open then mute it? Hmm Yeah ok. smile.gif

I'll just make a cup of tea now and enjoy my donut. biggrin.gif

Nice tone Christophe! Keep it up brother, you're right there. You can feel the attitude in your playing, shouldn't take you long to kick that take in the arse! Definately worth a donut!

Cool, I like the way you play the riff.. you've got the note separation thing happening there. If you do manage to slow the backing track down somehow then that will help smile.gif

Damn, Zoom. I've been out a few weeks and you made a lot of improvements ! Well done man. smile.gif
Christophe, I really think you would benefit to play this song with a slow backing track. It would be cleaner, and believe it or not, you'll improve faster playing slow.
Cheers.

Here is my attempt, full speed. The bends are not really good. I know I could do it better with more time. But tonight, my left hand hurts, so this is why I came with so far.

great takes, especially enjoy the gg man one for the tone.

I once again started too late on this one + yesterday my windows decided to do sth new and just stopped working after the welcome screen dry.gif

Hope I'll get this thing fixed for the next tasks, didn't do much rhythm and downstroke stuff in a while.

cya around, I'm out for some hours of bambi ph34r.gif
