GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ The Great Journey Begins!

Posted by: Marc_Maiden Sep 1 2009, 01:43 AM

hello fellow GMCers!

This week fellow GMCer Tomas Santa Clara travels across the world from his home in Portugal to my neck of the woods, the Bay Area of California (USA)

if you dont remember, a while back i made a thread about a GMC bbq. It was made as a joke, but I had gotten a PM from Tomas telling me about his plans to coming to the Bay Area. Turns out, he would be staying 10 min away from my house!

so this week he comes to the U.S. and later this week or next week, we will get together and go on a journey where we will search for a wish list of gear Tomas has given me and show him around, and take him to the guitar shops around the area.

hopefully our journey will prove fruitful.

now Tomas had his heart set on some real american BBQ....how could I deprive him?

Next saturday (the 12th) I organized a BBQ and invited all my musician friends. There will be Bassists, Drummers, Keyboard players, Guitar players, and good company all there to jam and welcome Tomas to the US.

we will Document the entire journey, and post back in this thread periodically

hopefully this will encourage GMCers near and far to meet up and have some fun. (but be safe!)

bah there is different bbq where ever you go....before you know it, we will get the texans in this thread claiming the same thing tongue.gif

Posted by: jafomatic Sep 1 2009, 05:29 PM

I'm not one of those "N8V TXN" folks, but I have to give their claims at least a little weight. The barbecue here IS pretty darned good. The beef is local, even smile.gif

This is cool guys...I look forward to seeing the video!

As for the BBQ...NOBODY can top my Triple Bypass!

1 - natural casing hot dog, encase it in spiced hamburger, then wrap the whole thing in bacon! Slather with BBQ sauce, and slow cook it over low heat. Top with diced onions, and more BBQ sauce and shredded cheddar cheese, put it on a hoagie roll!

Posted by: NoSkill Sep 4 2009, 03:00 AM

Oh, Praetorian! I'm definitely doing that!

Make sure you mix the hamburg with an egg, so it holds together!

If you're doing that, might as well throw in 1 piece of white bread (the junkier the better) per pound of ground beef. Soak the break in water, squeeze the water out, mix with that egg in the hamburger. The gluten from the bread and the egg whites will really REALLY hold it together.
