GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ I Am Looking For A New Guitar

Posted by: superize Feb 9 2009, 11:38 AM

I have browsed aroud the web for a good used guitar and i found a epiphone les paul costum that cost 250 dollars....

The guitar seems to be in good shape

Is this worth it

The custom? Is that the three pickup model?

I would say this sounds good value mate, as long as it is in good condition, the epiphones are really a great brand in their own right and the custom range is very, very close to the USA studio range, very versatile guitar too!

The pics are not too detailded but it looks good so far...
Do you have any chance to play it or do you buy it and it's delivered?

Unfortually i dont have any chance of playing it but i hav listened to some samples on youtube of people playing the same guitar and i like what i hear

The sound is not what I worried about (cause it sounds great!). I meant that you can make sure how the condition of the guitar is (in the worst case the frets could be worn down, or some electronics are dead, or there could be flaws that don't show on the picture...you catch my drift - You don't really know how good or bad the shape of the guitar is...

Oh and I would at least try a Les Paul in a store cause a lot of people don't like how they feel to play, It feels totally diffrent then your Warrior!

Go for it after trying! smile.gif

I hava asked the former owner to give me as much information about is as psooible and alos that he record a video clip of it so i can get a better opinion of the guitar......

I have no chance of trying it before buying....

2500 kr is not very much, I'd go for it if it seems good to you.

I would reccomend that Ibanez 100x over the Epi.

Definitely try it out before you buy man.

Posted by: Lian Gerbino Feb 22 2009, 10:59 PM

yeah, I think every guitar you buy is so important, so... it´s better to taste the guitar before buy it. so, I´d start with the black ibanez go, and try it!

i see its a nice price but try it before buying

Personally, I would never buy a used guitar before trying it out, 'cause there are a lot of things that you can't see in a photo, like the neck could be contorted in a such way it cannot be fixed just by adjusting the rod or you can have a bad experience like mine: I bought a used Epiphone flying-V, without inspecting it thoroughly. All seemed ok, until my friend dropped it while it was in the case. That caused her head to break off. After somehow fixing it (the guy that repaired it told me that it has already been broken and glued), I had a lot of trouble making a new logo, since it had to be painted to hide the line where it has been glued... After that the head fell off once more. Then I have glued it again, and sold it for a cheap price, so I've lost a lot of money on it, and got p....d off of all what I had to go through just because I didn't check the guitar out thoroughly.

So the moral of this story is: TRY BEFORE BUY!
