They seem to help my speedpicking 1032983% but should I be using heavys ? Or is this just one of those preference things

Preference thing - heavier picks help up to a point, after that it is preference for sure. I found .46 too light, now I am using 1.14 and they suit me fine.

I always used 0.71 and switched to the Dunlop Jazz III.

They are around 1.32 mm I find the string response better. I also like the pointier tip. seems to allow me to get in to tight places better. (good for cleaning my ears)

Depending on what style. I find at time they are a little to heavy for acoustic strumming.

Again as most will tell you preference is the main factor for most choices we make.

ok so im guessing a pick around .71 would be medium and 1.32 heavy ?

that sounds about right ;]

I use a green Steve Vai Ibanez pick.. It does not state its thickness, but i measured it to be around 1.14 or so.. It's perfect for me:D

Definetly...or getting out dirt under the fingernails

I find jazz III's perfect for acoustic playing
