I had a lot of great comments on how to improve my sound with the last post!!

I took a couple hours and improved the drum sound quite a bit, I add EQ and compression to the kick, snare, overhead and ambience mics, as well as a small amount of (transients?? --sounds like reverb or sustain to me lol) to the snare and overhead

Anyway the track is at the bottom of the page called "Polyrhythms"

Thanks!

Sounds very good, you really captured the modern sound on this one.

I think your snare is a bit too loud now, and guitars are good, but they lack some additional tightness. How did you record guitars?

Impressive. Todd here smile.gif I'd like to invite you to join our QUADRIUM collaborative project (ongoing) if you are up for it. If not, I'd like to work with you personally on some song collabs if you are up for that. I must say how impressed I am with the quality of your recording technique.

P.S What are you using for drums Ez Drummer/Drums From Hell?

Turn it up! Sounds rocking, you need a lead/solo overlapping it and it would be sweet!

Yes the snare with the added reverb is a little loud I agree.

The guitars are recorded with a pod x3 live. Its a 200$ 7 string guitar with really light guage strings (9's - drop tuned to Ab) so I believe thats partially why the tone was all over the place

Tyler that's insane.. I love it ! How do you approach composing with odd time signatures ? Do you really go into the theory of it or do you just feel it ? cool.gif

Glad you liked it!

And it's kind of both! Sometimes ill just come up with a lick that sounds good and happens to be in 9/8 and other times Ill just piece together what meters I think would sound cool biggrin.gif

Sure wink.gif I Listened to your other two songs just now and am equally impressed with them. Constructing convincing drum/bass sections takes real talent and real work so very well done. Beyond that they strong song composition and impressive guitar work is icing on the cake. So yeah, please do join us on the Quadrium Collab and I'd like to work on some tunes as a separate project as well. I"m stoked smile.gif

I'll shoot you a message on the gmc message system.

Todd
