Yes smile.gif I just cut out two pages that I thought were cool smile.gif There are wads of other guitars in the rest of the issue.

The link in the post at the top of this thread is the entire 2018 ibanez european guitar/bass/effects catalog.

That's cool to be sure smile.gif It would not really do the same thing as the classic in front of a high gain amp as it's just got too much bottom end. On a mid gain amp, it would work wonders! on a high gain amp, I fear it would case the low end to bunch up and get muddy.

Yup smile.gif That link is the whole catalogue complete with fanned fret models, vintage models etc. Seems like a huge variety to me. I just cut out the guitars that I want smile.gif E.g. The RG re issues.

hard to say from youtube sound but I didn't hear too much difference on the low-end, the difference may also be that the new one is much more transparent might be reflecting the pick attack more. Oh also note the position of the tone knob, if I remember correct with tubescreamers the lowcut also increases as the tone knob is increased.

Although the price is very high, on thegearpage forum already some mentioned they pre-ordered but here's what to me is interesting: TS9 is 99, ts808 is 180 and this new model is 250 dollars... considering used ts808's hold value on used pretty well (olders are even more expensive), to me they've pretty much killed the ts808 new or used market biggrin.gif

I've owned a ts9 which was cool both price and tone-wise but if I wanted to upgrade, I'd definitly skip the ts808 as 70 bucks for what is gained with the new model isn't that much of a difference.

Are you listening on your laptop speakers? I tried it on a pair of nice headphones and on my studio monitors and the bass jumped out on the tube one. Seems like it would make a very poor boost for high gain amps as it doesn't do the bass cut that the standards screamer does which helps tighten the sound. Seeems best for mid gain tones imho. Also that price seems a pinch nuts.

Listened again with my headphones (hd 280) and monitors. Its not so bassyer (just a pinch) but the low-end is more dynamic (and so slightly the new ts's output is higher). The bass "jumps" more than being deeper, I find this to be wonderful.

Then again the tone is set to 10 o'clock, there should be plenty of room to tighten the sound. Keep in mind unlike most pedals, tone control on tubescreamers affect bass responce too.

On the side note; I actually sold my ts9 because it was cutting too much low-end, made some notes on neck pickup sound bridge-like. Had ts9dx or mesa grid slammer in mind (both have massive low-end compared) but went with the OCD route. You'll remember I'm not a fan of the djent-style od usage which is powerchord specific...for both fluidness and bite, an OCD clone worked best for me (+sounds great on a clean setuped amp)

I think Ibanez has created some confusion here by calling it a Tube Screamer. IMHO it's not a Tube Screamer at all. It's not a boost pedal intended to be used to alter an amp's distortion. It's a preamp pedal intended to deliver the entire preamp sound. I believe it's intended to compete with a Soldano GTO or a AMT SS20 or a Tech21 character pedal.

Gotcha smile.gif I'm going for the low cut sound typically to get really tight palm muted chords as I constantly palm mute just about everything. So if the low end is at all loose, it sounds awful with my playing style.

I do condiser pedals like the OCD, boss mt-2 or the known wampler etc. stuff to be preamp-like pedals even if they don't have much eq options.

That said from the video I didn't find the breakup to be as complicated. Many do like the sound of a ts to a rather cleaner sounding amp, this wayhuge green-rhino came to my mind;

Really depends on the person these days if something is pedal-like or preamp. But for me a demo in a store is definitly needed for this new TS pedal before commenting deeper.

Then its the source of distortion that makes the difference between your needs and mine.

I boost a mt-2 which (pre-distortion) cuts the lows a lot, if even more with an od before it (like ts9) then the neck PU sounds bridge-like. The OCD school pedals boost the mid.s too but doesn't cut so much sub.s which is why it worked for me.

The opposite in my experience is with my friends Mesa Mark V, the 3rd channel by itself sounds very much like a big muff biggrin.gif That amp simply begs for a strong low-cut with a pedal if shred or tight powerchords are needed.

I hadn't even noticed this one. When I sold my other SA I had really wished a nicer one existed with better hardware, etc... This is near feature perfection for me, but man oh man did it hit every branch on the ugly tree. I don't know why manufacturers use abalone anywhere, it always looks cheap and tacky. I don't know why solid color paint jobs seem to be such a rarity too.

As someone who also likes SA's (though haven't played many or owned one) it had my attention from the catalog. Yeah I can agree with the abalone thugh color is not too bad for me. Price seem good, I'll be waiting to try one out.

It doesn't look like that model will see release in the USA if this list is correct.

Same here. The Iron Label models in 2016 and 2015 had that awful gaudy binding. The 2017 Iron Label was a thing of beauty though. I was hoping they would expand the color options for that model in 2018, but instead they took a color option away smile.gif.

The two most prominent new models in 2018 are a superstrat, as if we don't already have enough excellent superstrat guitars to choose from from other brands. And a reissue of the same guitar they already made years ago. They're nice, but that's a little disappointing compared to genuinely new models they've introduced the past couple of years.

Speaking of IBANEZ, the new SCHECTER from Keith Merrow looks a LOT like a new Ibby!! Look at the horns. Very pointy. Not like typical schecter horns at all imho. Also, the neck through and multi piece neck reminds of an RGT series Ibanez quite a bit. What do you think? All roads lead to super strat Ibanez?
