Task 49: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Slides-Bends/

Greetings my friends and fellow travellers of The Way.

My most recent lesson has handily dropped by in order for me to present it to you as this week's Task !

As the title suggests, it's all about sliding and bending. Take care to memorise the phrases as they can be quite tricky to remember. I know from experience, trust me ! laugh.gif

Also notice the timing of everything. Try to get as close as you can to the timing of the phrases, ok ?

Deadline is next Saturday (Yes, I'll allow that!) 12th January.

Hail Brother Zoom !! I was quietly hoping I would see a take from you and that you didn't think that the Bushido Tasks had automatically become void. In fact, I shall continue until we reach Task 52, if you're up for that ?? 52 Tasks makes 52 weeks which would be 1 year exactly ! smile.gif

Ok onto the take. I'm mightily impressed. It is a difficult lesson, deceptively so. I had trouble getting the phrases into my head to memorise them because they're not the obvious things that one would do.

Your bending is great.. getting better all the time. I'd say this is clear proof that by pushing oneself with higher challenges, you automatically grow to meet them !

Sliding is also good stuff... in fact, the only thing that stands out as a down side is just going in front of the beat occasionally. Not only learning and playing the phrases but then keeping everything controlled and well paced is yet another challenge, isn't it ?

But you did very well sir and yes, I will be presenting you with your Donut !! biggrin.gif

Cool Ben glad your still here.
I thought I'm on a roll with these weekly challenges
And just keep going. I use to get bogged down in a lesson
For weeks and still not get them 100 %.
So often I look at some of these challengers and when
I try them I go flip how am I going to nail this or get it somewhere
Close in a week and it makes me work hard.
This last lesson was pretty tricky for me. It's not easy to do long slides and
Land on the right fret. And then throw in slides with bends yeah it was
Really hard. I was tempted to just do one video
At a time and mix them together. I'd do one take and miss something
Every time.
I know I was ahead on the 2nd vid and probably in other spots too
But as you said I was trying to get a lot of stuff together in one take.
When I look at your take your Vibrato is so clear and controlled. Your an
Amazing player Ben you make it look easy ha ha.
Ok I'll see you next week and I'll try and keep the God father happy!

Hey, guys! ^^

I know that I'am already late but I made a video anyway, so here it is:

Bushido Task #49

The strings are now carved in my fingers.
You should've seen the agony in my face on the 100-th take, but
I suppose that's the price for being late.
I know, "No pain - no gain", but I need my fingers for the next
Bushido Task. biggrin.gif

I bow before you, master! tongue.gif

PS: Congratualtions, zoom! Great playing! ^^

WOO ! Hell yeah, Dian.. that rocks !!

With that Strat.. it's like what it might sound like if Yngwie Malmsteen was playing it biggrin.gif

I really like the way you manage to make the pick bite into the strings when you need to, like at 0:43. Perfect !! cool.gif

Nice one Dian! Man love your vibrato. 100 hundred takes I
Understand completely.
When I first saw this lesson my first thought was use the guitar with
"9's". My strat has "10's" and I like my fingers so my strat got a rest last week ha!

It's funny you mention 10's.. I recently re-strung my guitar with 10's and my fingers are in pain... tongue.gif

Do you like them Ben?

Do many guitar players use different gauge strings on different guitars? Or do they normally stay with one size?

I do like them but I'm definitely noticing the strain for bending and heavy vibrato. It's taking a while to get used to them, my fingertips are sore. I used to use 10's years ago but have been using 9's exclusively for the last 5 or 6 years I'd say. I thought I'd try them because I wanted more tuning stability for rhythm playing.

I wouldn't be surprised if other people do have different gauges on different guitars, especially if they're using lower tunings smile.gif
