Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Dude, this is freaking awesome!!!

I'd actually like to start with your improvised loops. I think they're great! Your playing is smooth, bluesy, laid back and very melodic and musical. Love it!

As far as the lesson goes, I think you got most of it down, but you're playing it a little ahead of the beat. Try to relax it more rhythm-wise, and get the phrasing a little better.

Overall I think you did a great job and I encourage you to keep on recording yourself more.

Kudos, bro!

Wow, that's some sexy blues, man !

Your tone really works with this track, I love that woody, hollow sound you got goin' on.

As Jacob has pointed out, I feel your timing is quite stiff. You're not 100% relaxed with the phrases. You haven't made them 'yours' yet. By contrast, your improv afterwards is much more like it. You're letting the phrases tumble over the beat in their own time, you're not rushing it. Because you're not following an exact script I think you're more relaxed there. So if you can get the lesson stuff more like the improv stuff then you're cracking it cool.gif

Blues is a very hard genre to learn since there is a lot more about emotions and some specific attitude while playing than being a few (in theory) simple notes smile.gif I like How Ben called it - "I little bit of You in this" and in fact You are able to Yourself what has been shown in the improvised loops smile.gif Very good tone and range od dynamics. You "Still got the blues" for sure! smile.gif

Hi MisterM! Good job with this lesson and also with that cool improvisation.

Your blues playing is good. You can play all the licks without any wrong notes or weak parts. However, as the other instructors have already said, there is still room to give more soul to your playing. The main things that I consider you can develop on this one are:

- Timing
- Dynamics
- Vibrato
- Tone

So my recommendation is to listen to some great blues players, or also the original lesson which includes a great blues interpretation and pay attention to those elements, compare it with your own take and see how you can continue improving your blues playing.
