Hey marcus, i wanted to know how you define Neoclassical, neoclassical music. How does it differ from classical? Does it differ in terms of time, or in musical terms?

thanks.

Hello FretDancer!

To me, Neoclassical is rock/metal that is influenced by classical music (at least among guitarists). For example the harmonic minor & phrygian scale has a very classical sound/feel to it, so it's used very often in the neoclassical style. We also have certain "classical sounding" chord proggressions. Check out Muris first alternate picking lesson (awesome, btw smile.gif) it has a very nice "J.S. Bach-like" chord progression, so I'd label that as "Neoclassical".

This is the way I see it, but I'm sure there are many different views on this smile.gif. I'm open for a discussion!
